example. Consider Set “B” now where Set “B” =
{(9, 3), (9, 4), (5, 6)}. Is the relation “B” a function?
The
answer... Set “B” is not a function because when
x = 9 in (9,3) y = 3, and when x = 9 in (9,4), y = 4.
Thus
you have (9, 3) and (9, 4).
Therefore, you do not have exactly
one y-value associated with each “x”. |
