  LOGARITHMS
Definition of Logarithm:

For positive b and y, b ≠ 1, logb y = x if and only if (iff) bx = y.

The statement x = logb y is read as “x is the log on a base b that gives the value y.”

(Remember that a logarithm is an exponent.)

Note: When a base is not written using log, it is understood to be 10.

log10x = log x.
