OF AERODYNAMIC TERMS - SPOILERS |
|
Spoilers are small control surfaces
that pop up into the air stream to help “spoil” lift or
create additional drag on the wing surface. Aircraft often have spoilers
in their design to help in a turn by increasing the drag over one
wing.
On landing you can watch the spoilers pop up on the trailing edge
(back of wing) which helps slow the aircraft on the runway. |
