REVIEW
OF AERODYNAMIC TERMS - TRIM TABS |
|
Trim tabs are little control surfaces
that are used to help stabilize the aircraft in flight. Feedback from
the yoke informs the pilot that the aircraft is not balanced. The
pilot uses the trim tabs to balance the aircraft and remove the feedback
(pushes or pulls on the yoke).
Trim tabs are often installed on the horizontal stabilizer, rudder,
and ailerons to allow the aircraft to fly smoother in flight. Without
trim tabs, you would feel the aircraft constantly move up or down
and left or right as the pilot would be making corrections to maintain
straight and level flight. |
