Remember, roll is movement of the wings
either up or down. The pilot can roll the aircraft in either direction
by moving the yoke left or right to turn in that direction.
To turn the aircraft to the right, the pilot turns the yoke to the
right. The right aileron comes up into the wind “dumping”
lift on the right wing. In the case of a right turn, the aileron on
the left wing deflects down and adds lift on the left wing. With lift
increased on the left and decreased on the right wing, the aircraft
rolls to the right resulting in a right turn.
