WHAT IS PROPULSION?

As the upward force produced by the engine's thrust overcomes the weight of the rocket, the rocket moves. At this point, drag (D) also enters into play as it opposes this motion. The thrust must now overcome both the weight and the drag of the rocket.

By employing proven mathematical formulas, propulsion engineers ensure drag resistance is factored into, and overcome by, the engine’s design. This guarantees that the engine's thrust is sufficient to achieve successful liftoff.
