WHAT IS PROPULSION?

Drag is the aerodynamic force that opposes motion through the air. It is a mechanical force generated by the contact of a solid body (such as a rocket) with a fluid (such as the air). Drag is the resistance to the motion of the object through a fluid. If you’ve ever held your hand out of a speeding car, it is the force of drag you feel pushing against your hand.

To overcome the effects of weight and drag, a rocket engine provides a force (called thrust) in the opposite direction.
