A SYSTEM OF EQUATIONS WITH TWO UNKNOWNS |

There are a number of ways
to solve a system of equations with two unknowns.
The first method that we will use is the substitution method.
Let’s solve for x and y by substitution.
- 2x + 3y = 18
- x – y = -1
Choose the easiest equation to work with to solve for either x or y.
Choose equation (2), then
x – y = -1 → x = y – 1.
