 CIRCUIT MEASURING DEVICES - OHMMETERS

Ohmmeters are used to measure resistance and to check for continuity (opens and/or shorts disrupt continuity). The ohmmeter is connected in parallel across the resistor like the voltmeter.

The ohmmeter range setting that allows a midscale indication should be selected.

In other words, if you are expecting to read 500 ohms, place the selector on the 0 to 1000 ohm setting and the indicating needle should deflect about halfway.
