ROCKET ENGINE COMPONENTS

Major components of a liquid or solid rocket engine are:
  • combustion chamber
  • nozzle
  • fuel
  • oxidizer
A liquid rocket also needs pumps for the fuel and oxidizer.

The fuel and oxidizer are mixed in the combustion chamber and ignited. High-temperature, high-pressure combustion gases are produced.

The combustion gases go from the combustion chamber to the engine exit, passing through the nozzle in the process.
