THRUST EQUATION

The equation can be simplified by making two assumptions.

First, the incremental time is the same for both mass and velocity.

Second, the conditions at the nozzle exit (exit pressure and velocity) remain constant.

Mass (m) can now be expressed as mass per unit of time or mass flow rate (m&) and exit velocity becomes Ve.

If you make these changes, the equation becomes:

Fmom = m&Ve
