CIRCUIT
MEASURING DEVICES - AMMETER SAFETY |
|
An ammeter is always connected in series
with the circuit being measured so it actually becomes part of the
circuit. It should also have the smallest resistance possible so the
effect of the ammeter on the circuit will be kept to a minimum.
Ammeter sensitivity is often mentioned with these devices. Sensitivity
is the amount of current required to trigger full-scale deflection
of the device’s indicating needle. Obviously, the smaller this
value is, the more sensitive the device.
The safety precautions shown here should always be observed when using
an ammeter. |
