CIRCUIT
MEASURING DEVICES - VOLTMETERS |
|
Voltmeters are used to measure voltage.
Unlike the ammeter, they are always connected in parallel with the
circuit element being measured.
The reason the voltmeter is placed in parallel is to measure the voltage
drop across a component. The device itself must draw as little current
from the circuit as possible to prevent the meter from altering the
very circuit it’s trying to measure.
Voltmeter sensitivity is expressed in ohms per volt. |
