Like current, voltage must also have magnitude and direction.

In fact, voltage is similar to the pressure exerted in the water example used earlier. No water will flow through the pipe if there is no water pressure.

Similarly, voltage acts as the pressure to force the ‘free electrons’ in a conductor to flow. Without voltage, current will not flow.
