 ENERGY - BTU

Certainly no discussion of electricity can be complete without a basic understanding of what is meant in electronics by the term “ENERGY”.

Energy is the ability to do work and it’s found in a number of different forms: chemical, electrical, heat (thermal energy), light (radiant energy), mechanical energy, and nuclear energy. It is also measured in many ways.

One of the basic measuring blocks is the British Thermal Unit (Btu). Btu is the amount of heat energy it takes to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit, at sea level.
