THE SOVIET SIDE

Just as the Americans were attempting to reach first goals in space, the Russian Space Program was also undergoing a period of growth and rapid development.

Both nations were eager to be the first to put a man on the lunar surface. For their efforts, the Soviets were lining up many achievements in what is now called “the Race to the Moon.” However, not all of the Soviet firsts were successes.
