DEFINTIONS & HISTORY: CLEANROOMS AND CONTROLLED WORK AREAS

A Controlled Work Area is similar to a cleanroom in that they utilize good housekeeping procedures, personnel controls and contamination restraints to maintain a high level of cleanliness. They do not, however, necessarily meet the much higher requirements for cleanrooms as defined by our Federal and International standards.
