CONTROL & DESIGN STANDARDS: SURFACE CONTAMINANTS

Surface cleanliness falls into two categories: precision cleanliness and visibly clean. We use precision cleanliness specifications only when defining standards for the internal surfaces of fluid systems. Hydraulic lines, hoses, or tube assemblies are just a few examples of equipment falling under this specification. Otherwise, the visibly clean standard is used. We define visibly clean as the absence of all particulate and non-particulate matter to the unaided eye.
